Children of all ages were offered a chance to learn camping skills indoors during the Thomas Hall (Post) Library’s Camp Library program July 15.
Families could create a grasshopper or wooden flag from crafts kits. They were also offered a chance to dig for bugs in containers of sand, bean bag toss game, and magnet fishing for colorful plastic fish.
The free event is part of the “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” summer reading program.
“We had lots of different crafts for the kids to do today,” said Kristen Inman, librarian. “This is all in support of our summer reading program. There’s lots of different activities for kids to do (throughout the program) to keep them reading for the summer.”
The summer reading program included a live action play, bingo, coloring page contests and various make and take crafts. Though the program is set to end July 30, Inman said there are two weeks left to enjoy the program’s offering.
“There is still time if you haven’t signed up for activities,” she explained. “There are still prizes to give out and we still have a couple more activities coming up.”
For additional information about the summer program, families can stop by the library located at 4679 Lee Road or by calling 751-4816. Upcoming library events can also be found in this edition’s events on Page 4.
