    Col. Craig Martin is the commander of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton, New York.

    An intelligence officer, cavalryman and former enlisted airborne infantryman, COL Craig Martin earned his commission from Texas A&M University in 1997. Following the Intelligence officer basic course, he spent his formative years with armored and cavalry formations in the 1st Cavalry and 1st Armored Divisions preparing for future conflicts with near-peer competitors. He has commanded in combat at the Company and Battalion level, leading units in multiple tours to Kuwait, Iraq and Syria.

    COL Martin has served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Desert Storm; the 1st Infantry Division in Iraq; as well as a tour with the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) as the G3 for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command’s Operational Command Post in Kuwait. He has served an operational tour in Bosnia, advised Iraqi Infantry Soldiers in combat on a Military Transition Team (MITT), and served as a CJTF planner in Afghanistan. COL Martin was the Battalion Commander for the Headquarters Battalion, IIIrd Armored Corps and Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) after which he was assigned as an Army War College Fellow at the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs as part of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. His most recent assignment was with Army Futures Command where he served as the Chief of Plans.

    COL Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University, a Master of Arts in Security Studies from Kansas State University, and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the Command and General Staff College, School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS). He has completed Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training, U.S. Army Airborne and Jumpmaster schools.
