U.S. Army JAG (Judge Advocate General) Officer, Capt. Blake Circle from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company 297th Regional Support Group collaborated with attorneys from different nationalities during Khaan Quest 2022.
Circle was given the opportunity to participate in Khaan Quest as a Brigade Judge Advocate and gave a little background on what JAG officers bring to the table in order to improve real world peacekeeping operations.
“The multinational exercise simulates a UN peacekeeping mission and allows us to train with counterparts from a number of different nations. It provides a rare opportunity for simultaneous multi-eschelon readiness generated training.
There are attorneys from the French Air Force, German Army, US Army Reserves, and the Mongolian Army. The wide range of backgrounds and experience provide a chance to delve into different approaches to the military legal system and international and operational law.
The discussions with our international partners bring different perspectives to the table and the understanding gained increases our interoperability. Although Khan Quest focuses on training the Mongolian battalion that is getting ready to deploy on a UN peacekeeping mission, it also provides a great opportunity for learning and growth for all of our Soldiers. I am thrilled that I get to travel to Mongolia and be a part of this exercise.”
Khaan Quest 2022 is a Mongolian-hosted, combined, joint training exercise designed to strengthen the capabilities of the U.S., Mongolia, and other partner nations in international peacekeeping operations.
