Meet Project Engineer Israel Miller, a civilian civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District!

Stationed in Poland in support of construction missions there, Miller has supported a variety of training range improvement projects at Polish military training ranges across the country over the past several years. These projects are carried out in close coordination with Polish partners and the U.S. Army’s 7th Army Training Command. The work includes several completed and still ongoing projects at Poland’s Drawsko Promorskie Training Area, which is one of the key sites during this year’s #DefenderEurope exercise.

“We’re doing everything from ground improvements to vehicle maintenance facilities to range towers and anything that can facilitate training at these ranges,” Miller said. “We’re laying the foundations so that our Soldiers and our partners and allies can train together and work in unison together.”

Miller said he’s proud knowing that his work at the Drawsko Promorskie Training Area and others in Poland, including the Zagan Training Area where he is pictured, support such important exercises.

“Training ranges like Drawsko Promorskie and others in Poland help our Polish allies maintain readiness and the ability to defend themselves and are important for joint training too where Polish forces, U.S. forces and other allies train together,” Miller said. “It makes me really proud seeing the sites where the team has delivered range improvements and other projects playing a key role in such an important exercise like DEFENDER-Europe and really benefiting the troops on the ground training.”

DEFENDER-Europe 22 is a series of U.S. Army Europe and Africa multinational training exercises within U.S. European Command’s Large Global Scale Exercise construct taking place in Eastern Europe. It demonstrates U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s ability to conduct large scale ground combat operations across multiple theaters in support of NATO and the National Defense Strategy.
