YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 21, 2022) — Chief Quartermaster James Wilkerson attached to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka’s (CFAY) port operations department, operates the Variant-class harbor tug Defiant (YT-804) guiding the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) through the Yokosuka Bay. Mobile Bay arrives at CFAY as part of the Abraham Lincoln Strike Group for a scheduled port visit. The Abraham Lincoln Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability through alliances and partnerships while serving as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
