Partner Nations Discuss Women, Peace, and Safety at TRADEWINDS22

U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Duilia Turner, the lead trainer for U.S. Southern Command's Women, Peace, Safety (WPS), and Human Rights team talks about the importance of having a broad gender perspective during training at the Manatee training site in Belize during TRADEWINDS22 May 10, 2022. The SOUTHCOM’s Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Program recognizes the diverse roles women play as agents of change in preventing and resolving conflict, countering terrorism and violent extremism as well as building post-conflict peace and stability in our Hemisphere. Tradewinds 2022 is a multinational exercise designed to expand the Caribbean region’s capability to mitigate, plan for, and respond to crises; increase regional training capacity and interoperability; develop new and refine existing standard operating procedures; enhance ability to defend exclusive economic zones; and promote human rights and adherence to shared international norms and values; fully integrate women into defense, peace and security missions; and increase maritime domain awareness to deter illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities.
