    Cmdr. Jamie VanDyke, a native of Lake Ozark, Mo., entered the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate program at the University of Missouri-Rolla and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 2003, VanDyke received his commission through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla. He later earned a Master of Science in Space Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif in 2010.
    At sea, VanDyke served as a Deck Division Officer on USS Seattle (AOE 3) from 2003-2005 and deployed with the John F. Kennedy Battle Group in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. After completing his nuclear training pipeline in Charleston, S.C., he reported to USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) where he served as a Reactor Mechanical Division Officer from 2006-2008 and deployed with the Carrier Strike Group 10 again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. VanDyke then served as the Operations Officer on USS Gravely (DDG 107) from 2011-2013, completing the training workup cycle and deployment certification. He then served as the Reactor Electrical Assistant on USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) from 2013-2015, completing a Refueling Complex Overhaul and deploying with Carrier Strike Group 12 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In November of 2017, VanDyke reported to USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) as the Executive Officer completing a 12-month dry docking availability. He then served aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68), homeported in Bremerton, Wash., as the Assistant Reactor Officer. While aboard Nimitz, he completed an 11-month deployment with Carrier Strike Group 11 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and Operation Octave Quartz.

    Ashore, VanDyke served as a Junior Board Member of the Fleet Forces Command Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board from 2015-2017, during which he completed 39 Reactor Safeguards Examinations on both carrier and submarine nuclear powered warships.

    Cmdr. VanDyke reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group Rocky Mountain as the executive officer in May 2022.

    His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various service and campaign awards.
