Lt. Ronaqua Russell, A U.S. Coast Guard HC-144 pilot with Air Station Miami, holds the Key to the U.S. Virgin Islands, presented to her by the U.S. Virgin Islands Legislature May 5, 2022 in honor of her achievements as an aviator, including becoming the first African American woman in the Coast Guard to win the Air Medal. The award recognized her skill and excellence as a pilot during the 2017 hurricane season, first in Hurricane Harvey and later during Hurricane Maria.
