PACIFIC OCEAN (April 27, 2022) – Sailors depart in a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) from amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), April 27. RHIBs are used for security, personnel transfer and for man overboard recovery. Makin Island is underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet.
