Mannville competed for the qualification as part of his selection as Best Warrior in the enlisted category of the New York National Guard Best Warrior Competition, a three-day event at nearby Camp Smith to test Soldiers on their Army knowledge, physical fitness, and tactical prowess, ending in a 12-mile road march and the the opportunity for him to represent New York at the regional and national Best Warrior levels.
