PACIFIC OCEAN (April 9, 2022) – Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Wilner Sison sprays the super structure with fresh water on the flight deck aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), April 9. Cleaning the ship with fresh water prevents corrosion from saltwater buildup. Makin Island is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet.
