PACIFIC OCEAN (April 9, 2022) – Sailors retrieve a guiding line in the well deck aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), April 9. During refueling, the guiding line is used to maintain the appropriate distance between the ship and the fueling station to prevent damage to the ship or injury of ship personnel.
