General Daniel Hokanson, Chief, National Guard Bureau, presents a coin to Master Sgt. James Kenning, metals technology shop chief of the 155th Maintenance Group, on March 22, 2022, at the Lincoln air force base, Nebraska. Hokanson visited with senior leaders, Airmen, and Soldiers of the Nebraska National Guard.
Kenning was recognized for the exemplary work he performed in reverse engineering a 3D part for the KC-135 Stratotaker. The part is a critical piece that is not actively manufactured. Master Sgt. Kenning and members of his shop used specific equipment that was purchased with innovations funds which enables them to recreate the piece. The age of the aircraft plays a significant role as parts are obsolete and this process will be the new norm.
