Maj. Gen. Jeffery Broadwater, deputy commanding general, V Corps, spoke with Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Batin, production control noncommissioned officer in charge, Delta Company, 1-3rd Attack Battalion, prior to presenting him with a coin during a visit to Lielvārde Air Base, March 10, 2022. Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Christensen held the phone so that Batin’s daughter could watch her father receive the coin. Broadwater met with the Soldiers of the 1-3rd Attack Battalion and recognized four members of the unit for their performance. 1-3rd Attack Battalion arrived in Latvia from Germany for exercise Saber Strike 22 to reassure our NATO allies, deter any potential aggression against NATO member states, and train with host-nation forces.
