As one of U.S. Special Operation Command’s senior enlisted leaders, U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Gwendolyn West shared her military and life experience as a February 24, 2022 Diversity and Inclusion panelist. As SOCKOR’s first African American Leaders Panel, the event provided opportunities for each respective leader to provide insight on challenges and adversity they faced. SMSgt West emphasized that she never accepts “can’t” in striving to achieve her goals and her desired career path. She joined the Air Force through her mother’s encouragement and with 20 years of experience she shared that there are always directions to overcome obstacles.
