A fire support team with Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) identify and communicate targets to F-35B Lightning II fighter pilots with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121 flying overhead at Combined Arms Training Center (CATC) Camp Fuji, Japan, March 9, 2022. The JSDF and U.S. Marine Corps both utilize the F-35B Lightning II aircraft allowing for seamless bilateral use of the platform. Maritime Defense Exercise Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade (MDX-ARDB) is a bilateral exercise meant to increase interoperability and strengthen ties between U.S. and Japanese forces for the defense of Japan.
