U.S. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited NATO troops and Latvia’s military leadership at Camp Adazi, Latvia on March 5, 2022. Gen. Milley, the highest-ranking U.S. military officer, joined with United States Ambassador to Latvia John Carwile, U.S. Army Europe and Africa commander Gen. Christopher Cavoli, and Latvian Lt. General Leonidis Kalnins to speak with NATO troops currently in Latvia. Gen. Milley said that recent U.S. troop deployments demonstrate our commitment to NATO Article 5 and told the troops present that their mission is to stand shoulder to shoulder in defending NATO against any aggression.
