The bow of the tugboat-barge combination, Thunder and Lightning, lifts and its ramp extends to the dock so that its load of more than 50 RG-31 armored vehicles can be unloaded at a port in Kuwait, Dec. 23. The RG-31s were shipped to Kuwait from South Africa to be delivered to troops in Iraq under a Department of Defense program to equip them with mine protected vehicles.
