Friday, February 18, 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with our State and Federal partners, observed a tremendous milestone with the groundbreaking of the Indian River Lagoon-South C-23/24 Stormwater Treatment Area project.
It is the first significant construction feature of the India River Lagoon-South project to address the C-23 and C-24 basins in St. Lucie.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, South Florida Deputy Commander, and master of ceremony, Lt. Col Todd Polk, remarks "“I can already see the eelgrass in the lagoon. I see the healthy wetland. I can see the birds and fish. I see our neighbors in St. Lucie and Martin counties making a living, enjoying and recreating in the restored environment.”
