U.S. Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) load back onto a CH-53E Super Stallion landing aboard the USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) for a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) operation, Philippine Sea, Feb. 2, 2022. VBSS training reinforces the Marine Corps’ presence within the weapons engagement zone by having a team ready to act in a moment’s notice. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
