31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

A set of PRC-148 radios are laid out on the floor of the hangar bay aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) prior to a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) operation, Philippine Sea, Feb. 2, 2022. VBSS training reinforces the Marine Corps’ presence within the weapons engagement zone by having a team ready to act in a moment’s notice. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
