U.S. Sailors with Fleet Surgical Team 7 aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) transport a Marine from the flight deck to the triage bay aboard LHA 6, in the Philippine Sea Jan, 28, 2022.The mass casualty response mission allows the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to reach victims of an attack, natural disaster or other emergent events when local medical and reactionary forces are unable to provide proper medical care. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
