U.S. Navy Seaman Erika M. Williams, a corpsman with Navy Branch Health Clinic, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, oversees recruits with Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, at MCRD San Diego, Feb. 2, 2022. Corpsmen are present during all training events that take place on the depot to ensure the safety of the recruits and the drill instructors. They look out for symptoms of distress and are ready to respond to heat casualties and high falls among other injuries and illnesses at a moment’s notice. They also provide emotional support to recruits. “Our mission is to provide the best healthcare available to the recruits and all base personnel,” said Williams.
