Bernice is a Coast Guard Reservist currently on active-duty status to leverage his civilian job qualifications and expertise as a school superintendent as Task Force Liberty returns to providing community-based educational opportunities to school-aged children. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 11,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
