U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Osbert Liburd, a recruit with Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, squares off with opponent during a body sparring bout on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Jan. 26, 2022. Liburd was participating in the crucible: the 54-hour long culminating event of recruit training. The crucible challenges all the skills a recruit has acquired throughout their time in recruit training.
