U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Jamie Rodriguez, a recruit with Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, prepares for his body sparring bout on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Jan. 26, 2022. Rodriguez was participating in the crucible: the 54-hour long culminating event of recruit training. The crucible challenges all the skills a recruit has acquired throughout their time in recruit training.
