220104-N-FA490-1144 NAVAL BASE GUAM (Jan. 4, 2022) – Naval Base Guam’s Fire & Emergency Services and the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6) conduct an integrated in-port fire drill. The drill simulated a fire onboard Jackson that becomes larger than the ship’s force can handle and requires the assistance of the base fire department. Conducting joint drills helps to alleviate communication gaps and combine techniques necessary to assist shipboard personnel during a casualty. Attached to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7, Jackson is on a rotational deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the region, and to work alongside allied and partner navies to provide maritime security and stability, key pillars of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
