Maj. Gen. John Hussey, left, commander of the 200th Military Police Command, Fort Meade, Maryland, talks with Pfc. Garrett Dahms, right, a military police officer with the 79th Military Police Company, Wabasha, Wisconsin, in the Afghan evacuees base exchange during a site visit at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Dec. 21, 2021. The visit gave Maj. Gen. Hussey an opportunity to talk with Soldiers and understand day-to-day operations on Operation Allies Welcome. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan evacuees essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Caitlin Wilkins, 50th Public Affairs Detachment)
