Dalton Silvis, park ranger, opens the back door of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District’s Small Unit Support Vehicle at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project. The amphibious vehicle is used by park ranger staff in the winter to prevent injury from cold exposure when temperatures drop below negative 30 degrees. They can also use it to transport large groups across the 20,000 acres of public land.
