211214-N-MR124-1028 MANAMA, Bahrain (Dec. 14, 2021) Lt. j.g. Alexander Goldberg, left, a native of Waterford, New York, speaks to Sailors aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS O’Kane (DDG 77) during a ceremony dedicating a relic from Pennsylvania-class battleship USS Arizona (BB-39) in commemoration and remembrance of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor during a port visit in Manama, Bahrain, Dec. 14, 2021. The Relic displayed originates from a section of the superstructure of the Arizona that was removed from the ship when the Arizona Memorial was constructed. The Naval History and Heritage Command authorized the removal of sections of the relics for display and legacy enhancing purposes in 1994. O’Kane is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
