JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - A 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) family member fires a M249 light machine gun at targets during a special operation forces familiarization range on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wa., Dec. 8, 2021. The familiarization range offers 1st SFG (A) family members hands-on experience and provides a rare opportunity for them to operate equipment, shoot weapons, and simulate training. The event was part of Menton Week, a weeklong annual celebration held by 1st SFG (A) to honor their heritage and the 1st Special Service Force, who were the predecessors of modern-day Special Forces.
