211208-N-SS900-1008 PHILIPPINE SEA (Dec. 8, 2021) Rear Adm. Dan Martin, commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1, presents Capt. P. Scott Miller, commanding officer of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), with a relic of battleship USS Arizona (BB-39) to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 8, 2021. The mission of the USS Arizona (BB-39) Superstructure Relic Program is to communicate the relevance of Navy history and heritage to today’s Pacific Fleet Sailors aboard ships, submarines and other commands, signified in the USS Arizona relic piece. Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability through alliances and partnerships while serving as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
