Airman 1st Class Triston Davis services liquid oxygen on an E-3 Sentry aircraft at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, Dec. 1, 2021. The Air Force uses liquid oxygen, also known as LOX, onboard aircraft to provide breathing assistance to flight crews at high altitudes. Servicing and storing LOX requires safety precautions as the oxygen is only in liquid form at very cold temperatures. Oxygen boils at approximately 297 degrees Fahrenheit below zero.
