Gunnery Sgt. Stephanie R. Roman, a native of San Carlos, Arizona, was awarded the 2021 Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE) Military Service Award for the tenacity, resiliency, and continuous positive impact she has shown to both her community within the San Carlos Apache Tribe and the United States Marine Corps.
The SAIGE award is to recognize military members, DoD civilian employees and veterans in government services who represent the best of their service core values and promote positive image of Native Americans within their workplace.
The SAIGE program has an established warrior society within the organization, which focuses on active-duty military, veterans, and government employees who are focused on professional development, leadership, and topics related to the Native American community.
