U.S. Army 1st Lt. Jacob Ferris, assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade, fires the M252 81mm mortar system during the final live fire portion of the Infantry Mortar Leaders Course (IMLC) at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Nov. 17, 2021. During the 5- week course, Soldiers from 173rd Airborne Brigade and 2D Cavalry Regiment gain the knowledge to compute fire missions by both analog and digital means, and supervise and direct high angle fires from a mortar element.
