211122-N-DW158-1013 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Nov. 22, 2021)– Capt. Fred Goldhammer, commanding officer, and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Russell Smith, walk through the hangar bay of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during an all-hands call. During Smith’s visit, he also met with Sailors of the Year from multiple forward-deployed ships. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
