At an awards ceremony Nov. 17 at the brigade headquarters, Col. Brad Bane, the commander of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade, presented Army Commendation Medals to Lt. Col. Alan Manzo, Maj. Jose Perez, Capt. Hollie Bedford and Capt. Joseph Friedman for their part supporting critical logistical efforts needed to assist more than 30,000 Afghan evacuees transitioning through the European theater during Operation Allies Refuge and Operation Allies Welcome. Also awarded for their part supporting OAR and OAW but not present at the awards ceremony was Capt. Nicholas Candelmo, Sgt. 1st Class Samara Burnett and Staff Sgt. James Braxton.
