Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate visited Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, Nov. 9, 2021, where they received briefings on operations Task Force Liberty Soldiers currently conduct alongside representatives from multiple other government agencies. The lawmakers and their staff also toured the various facilities at CAS and met with Afghan guests temporarily staying here while awaiting paperwork for further traveling.
Task Force Liberty is the Afghan Evacuations Mission Support Element under Task Force Spartan and is responsible for meeting the transportation, security, logistics, medical and morale and welfare needs of Afghan guests at CAS. It is currently staffed by Soldiers from the Fort Belvoir, Virginia-based 29th Infantry Division, with assistance from personnel in all three Army components.
