NORFOLK (Nov. 5, 2021) Adm. Christopher W. Grady, USFFC commander, speaks at the memorial service for Mr. John "Bag" Hefti. Following a storied 28-year career as naval aviator, Hefti served at USFFC since 2017, most recently as the Director, Fleet and Joint Training. During the service, Hefti was posthumously awarded the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award for his service to the fleet as the unified voice for fleet and joint training policies, requirements, technologies, certification, assessment, and interoperability in direct support of combat ready Navy forces. He empowered and matured the fleet training wholeness, while processing and identifying significant strategic competition-level training gaps. His efforts advanced live, virtual, and constructive training by developing a strategic roadmap, fielding new capabilities and improving network technology to blend the intensity of underway operations with high-fidelity synthetic training enabling Sailors to master high-end tactics in a secure controllable condition. Hefti was an officer of immense potential who had recently been selected for Senior Executive Service (SES). His leadership, vision, and determined execution successfully delivered positive impacts across the Navy. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Megan Wollam)
