U.S. Army Col. Howard Lloyd retires from the military during a ceremony at the Keystone Conference Center in the presence of family, friends and fellow Soldiers. Lloyd initially joined the military in 1982, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 1989 and attended Officer Candidate School. He most recently served as the commander of the 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade where he led the brigade through a deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield. He has logged more than 2700 hours as a helicopter pilot. Lloyd was ceremonially promoted to brigadier general during the event.
