Afghan personnel attended a watch party of the International Cricket Council T20 World Cup match between Afghanistan and Pakistan at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Oct. 29, 2021. This event was organized to allow Afghan personnel a chance to watch their home country compete on the world stage as they continue their immigration process here through Operation Allies Welcome. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Elliot Alagueuzian, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
