Medics assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment from Fort Hood, Tx., identified atypical heart attack symptoms and quickly intervened to administer life-saving care to a fellow soldier, Oct. 18, 2021, at Camp Atterbury, Ind. The medical team is currently deployed to Indiana in support of Operation Allies Welcome. This initiative provides essential support at secure locations outside of Afghanistan. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities in permanent or temporary structures as quickly as possible.
