Personnel from Task Force McCoy Guest Services Center (GSC) provide information for Afghan evacuees at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Oct. 27, 2021. GSC serves as a space in which Afghan evacuees are greeted by personnel from U.S. Government agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide accurate and timely information on the resettlement process to facilitate positive integration into the United States. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Elliot Alagueuzian, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
