U.S. Marine Corps ¬¬¬ Cpl. Brandon Carmichael and Cpl. Carlos Loya, both entry team members with Special Reaction Team, Marine Corps Installation Pacific - Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, respond to a call during a notional, active-shooter scenario for Constant Vigilance 2021 on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 21, 2021. The exercise consisted of an active shooter injuring a casualty and then barricading himself into a building with two hostages. The SRT and Criminal Investigation Division responded and negotiated with the barricaded suspect which led to getting the hostages out safe. Constant Vigilance is an island-wide force protection condition evaluation and crisis response to validate regional, installation, camp, and tenant antiterrorism and mission assurance plans and policies.
