U.S. Marine Corps Col. Lester Ray Gerber, commanding officer of III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (MIG), addresses the Marines of III MIG after a three-mile conditioning hike on Oct. 15, 2021 at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. This hike is part of a series of hikes aimed to condition the Marines of III MIG into an exemplary fighting force prepared to react to any mission tasked to them in the Indo-Pacific Region. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific region’s information environment, and supports Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities.
