The Idaho Army National Guard’s Charlie Company of the 2-116th Combined Arms Battalion returned to the field for October drill on the Orchard Combat Training Center. Training focused on the use of AT-4 anti tank weapons, the M320 Grenade Launcher, familiarization with C4 plastic explosives, Claymore mines, and the Grenade Rifle Entry Munition (GREM) training. Rounding out the weekend were land navigation exercises and a morning ruck march from the OCTC cantonment facility to the range area.

The 2-116th Cavalry Regiment is one of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team’s three combined arms battalions. The CAB is headquartered in Caldwell with units in Emmett and Nampa.

The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is the state’s largest unit. The brigade is located in more than 20 Idaho communities and across four states: Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Oregon.
