SAN DIEGO (Sep. 17, 2021) Sailors and staff onboard Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego observe a moment of silence in honor of 18 fallen service members at the hospital Sep. 17. 11 Marines, one Sailor, and one Soldier lost their lives during an attack in Kabul, Afghanistan Aug. 26, and 5 Sailors lost their lives in a helicopter accident off the coast of San Diego Aug. 31. NMRTC San Diego's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC San Diego employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
