210913-N-GR655-024 GROTON, Conn. (September 13, 2021) – Brazilian Navy Rear Adm. Thadeu Lobo, commander of the Submarine Force of the Brazilian Navy, is greeted by U.S. Navy Capt. John Stafford, commodore of Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) FOUR, in front of the nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine USS Vermont (SSN 792) for a ship orientation onboard Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn., Sept. 13. Vermont - the first Block IV Virginia-class submarine to enter service - participated in anti-submarine warfare exercises with the Brazilian Navy in the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations in December of 2020.
