U.S. Air Force members and other helping to support Operation Allies Welcome, pause for a moment of silence offered by Chaplain (Capt.) Conner Simms, assigned to the 934th Airlift Wing, Minneapolis, Minnesota, reflecting on the significance of the twenty anniversary of 9/11 at Liberty Village, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, Sept. 11, 2021. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
