A Border Patrol Honor Guard member marches away from the memorial honoring those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, after posting guards to the memorial during the 20th anniversary memorial ceremony. Alpine Station has a direct connection to the terrorist attacks on 9/11 as there was a ground-breaking ceremony that fateful day for the station building. 10 years after the event a memorial using a large piece of steel from the World Trade Center Towers was erected and now stands as a reminder of the importance of Customs and Border Protection's mission of keeping America safe from future attacks.
